Candle Care

How To Take Care

Hey my loves! Candle care is very important throughout the life of your candle. Here’s a few tips to keep your Moody Bitch candle at its best!

Once you’ve unboxed your candle and ready to light your Mood make sure it’s lit long enough to allow the melted wax time to reach the edge of the jar. This will prevent tunnelling and will allow for an even burn. For best burn results allow your candle to burn between 3-4 hours. While burning your candle you may notice the flame of your wooden wick lower than when you first lit it. This is completely normal so don’t worry a low flame will still heat your wax. Allow it to continue to burn and the normal flame height will eventually return.

After every burn you should trim the burned wood away from your wick to avoid issues with lighting your candle. Make sure to trim your wick around ¼ of an inch any lower than that your flame could possibly be drowned out by the candle wax. Light your wick from the base closet to the wax and make sure the full width of the wick is lit. Extinguish your candle after 3-4 hours and allow 2 hours to cool before you relight or move.

Always make sure you are always careful when touching a hot candle jar and its wax. Never leave a burning candle nearby anything that could ignite, children or pets. Once your candle has nearly burned all its wax, stop burning your candle to prevent your glass candle jar from possibly shattering.

To clean your candle all you’ll need is a damp cloth or a microfiber towel to clean off smudges or dust. For the inside of your jar gently remove the wick, wick holder and sticker. Once these have been removed scrape out as much wax as you can with a butter knife or spoon. Heat the oven to 180 degrees and line a rimmed baking pan with tinfoil or one or two layers of parchment paper. Place the candles upside down on the pan and set the pan in the oven. The wax will melt in about 15 minutes. Remove the pan and place on a heat-safe surface. Hold the container using a towel or pot holder and wipe the inside with a paper towel. Let the container cool and then clean with soap and water. You can also Pour boiling water into the container, leaving room at the top. The boiling water will melt the wax and it will float to the top. Let the water cool and remove the wax. Strain the water to get rid of any small wax bits. Make sure not to pour wax down the drain and to be careful with hot water and container to avoid being burned. Once finished Scrape any remaining wax and clean with soap and water.
